You don't suck Sarah
Bryan and I went to see Sarah McLachlan in concert last night at GM Place in Vancouver. It was a great show. It was quite a special show because Vancouver is Sarah's home town and this was the last concert of an almost 2 year tour.
Sarah has an unbelievable voice. Really unbelievable. Mariah Carey ain't got nothin' on Sarah. She has one of those rare voices that actually sounds better live than it does recorded. Most people know from hearing some of her recent stuff on the radio, that she has a great voice and her songs are really nice to listen to. But I don't think her current radio-played songs come close to showing off the extent of her talents. Every now and again during the concert, she would perform a song that really unleashed the full power of her voice and left you trembling in your seat, unable to breathe. A lot of these songs come from her Fumbling Towards Ecstasy album, which remains my favourite.
It was a huge show and 11,000 fans were in attendance. I think it was a bit much for one ovewhelmed fan, sitting not an inconsiderable distance from us, who screamed so loud at times that we really had problems hearing Sarah. After about half an hour of this enraptured fan screaming her adoration, including such memorable phrases as "You don't suck Sarah", we heard a round of applause coming from that end of the arena. And we realised that the fan had been removed from the concert.
Oh Wow! I just read in a Vancouver Sun report covering the concert, that Jason Priestly was also there watching Sarah last night! I am quite underwhelmed with the thought of it! Oh, the shrieking fan also made the news report!

Oh, yeah, I LOVE her live!! She's really does leave you awestuck, and as fantastic as she sounds on CD, her recorded voice really doesn't do her justice. Tori Amos is like that too.
